The city was shrouded in sorrow as news broke early this morning of the passing of Bhimsen Munda, elder brother of former Union Minister and former Chief Minister, Arjun Munda. Bhimsen, aged 65, succumbed to cancer after a prolonged battle. He had been under medical care at Tata Motors Hospital for the past several weeks, where he breathed his last.
 
A simple man by nature, Bhimsen Munda chose to stay away from the limelight of political affairs despite belonging to a family deeply entrenched in the political landscape. Known for his humility and unassuming lifestyle, he earned the respect of many across the city and beyond. His death has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
 
In the forenoon, a solemn funeral procession commenced from the Mundas’ residence in Ghorabandha, culminating at the Bhuiyadih crematorium. Hundreds of mourners, including dignitaries, BJP functionaries, and local sympathizers, gathered to pay their last respects. The procession was marked by a deep sense of loss and reverence for the departed soul.
 
A wave of grief swept through Jamshedpur as citizens expressed their condolences. Leaders from various political and social spheres joined the mourning family, underscoring the widespread respect Bhimsen commanded in the community.
 
Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his sorrow through a heartfelt post on social media platform X. He wrote, "I am saddened to receive the news of the death of Bhimsen Munda, brother of former Chief Minister of the state Arjun Munda. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Marang Buru to grant peace to the departed soul."
 
BJP leader and former Chief Minister, Raghubar Das, also conveyed his condolences. “Received the sad news of the death of Bhimsen Munda, elder brother of former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and former Union Minister Arjun Munda. May Mahaprabhu Jagannath Ji give place to the departed soul in his personal abode and give strength to his family to bear this pain. Om Shanti,” he said.
 
Bhimsen Munda’s life was a testament to simplicity and integrity. While his brother, Arjun Munda, carved a significant place in Indian politics, Bhimsen chose a quieter path, dedicating himself to personal and familial responsibilities.
