Double engine Govt delivered welfare schemes to common man for 10 years: Hry CM

Monday, 15 July 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that over the past 10 years, the double engine government of the Centre and the State have taken initiatives to deliver welfare schemes to the common man, reaching till the last person standing in the queue. The positive impact of these schemes is evident, as even the poorest individuals now have smiles on their faces and are receiving the benefits of welfare schemes, he said while addressing a public gathering after unveiling the statue of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap in Bhaira Bankipur village in Rai constituency of Sonipat.

The Chief Minister said that before 2014, governments only made announcements without implementing them. “The governments used to show dreams to the people, but those promises did not materialize in reality. Earlier, there was a crisis for electricity in the state, but the present government has reformed the system to ensure 24-hour power supply to the people,” he said. On the occasion, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 14 development projects worth Rs 112 crore.

Saini also highlighted that the government has provided government jobs to 1.5 lakh people without any bribery. Before 2014, the elderly received a mere Rs 500 as a pension, but after coming to power, the government increased it to Rs 1000. Today, 20 lakh eligible beneficiaries in the state are receiving an Old-Age Samman Allowance of Rs 3000.

About 500 Schools Named After Martyrs

Saini said that about 509 schools in the State have been named after martyrs. Similarly, the Maharana Pratap Horticulture University has been established in Anjanthali, Karnal.

Urges People to keep environment green

Saini, addressing the public at the Raahgiri programme at Herbal Park in Ambala city under the Haryana Uday Programme, said that Raahgiri programme sends a good message of staying healthy and staying away from drug menace.

“Programmes like ‘Raahgiri’ not only foster a sense of unity and harmony among people but are also effective in making the youth mentally and physically robust,” he said, expressing his fortune at participating in the Raahgiri programme on the sacred land of Ambala and congratulated everyone for being part of the event. Before this, the Chief Minister cycled himself near the PWD Rest House in Ambala city, promoting a message of good health.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also spread the message of the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' run by the Forest, Environment, and Wildlife Department, and planted a tree himself. “On June 5, World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this campaign, and we initiated this from Karnal on July 13 and continued it today. This campaign will be run during the monsoon by all educational institutions, social-religious organizations, and government departments,” he said.

The Chief Minister also urged the people to plant more saplings to keep the environment clean and maintain temperature balance, and to take care of them until they become trees. During the program, the Forest Department also distributed more than five thousand fruit and shade-giving saplings.

More than 1.5-cr trees planted

Saini, interacting with media persons, said that this year alone, more than 1.5 crore trees have been planted so far. Through Agroforestry, saplings have also been planted in farmers' fields. He appealed to people to plant a tree on their child's birthday, anniversary, or other social celebrations to make these events memorable. He also honoured the martyrs who protected the motherland during the first spark of the freedom movement that rose from Ambala's soil on June 8, 1857.
