Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday commemorated ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ with special exhibitions set up at Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro Stations.
DMRC’s Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications Anuj Dayal said, “On the occasion of ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day,’ which is observed annually on 14th August, the DMRC has set up exhibitions at Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro stations.” He added that the exhibition vividly portrays the horrors of partition and its profound impact on our shared history. “The exhibitions were formally thrown open in the presence of public representatives and eminent senior citizens,” he said.
Further, Dayal added, “The ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ has been envisaged to bring to light the agony, suffering, and pain of millions of people who were the victims of Partition. It serves as a solemn reminder of the largest displacement of human population in our country’s history, an event that claimed countless lives and forever altered the nation’s social fabric.”
The exhibition is a collaborative effort between the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). “It provides a reflective and educational experience, offering visitors an in-depth understanding of the tragic events surrounding partition,” Dayal said.
Both Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro station have such an exhibition set up to ensure that more commuters have the opportunity to engage with this important piece of history. “The exhibitions will be available for public viewing till 21st August,” he added.
