As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, an awareness campaign regarding Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) started in the district from Wednesday, January 10 to February 28. District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary who is always known for his instant approach gave this information during interaction with media to ensure proper downloading of information downstream to ensure strengthening basic functionality of Democracy . Further DEO Kuldeep Chaudhary said that recently a survey was conducted by the Election Commission of India. In which the fact was revealed that the level of awareness among the common people about EVM and VVPAT was not what it should have been. Therefore the Commission has decided to organize EVM awareness programs across the country. In this episode only EVM awareness campaigns will also be organized in the entire district. DEO has appealed to the voters of the district as well as the public representatives and members of political parties to give wide publicity to the EVM awareness campaign and also show their active participation.
District Election Officer further informed that under the EVM awareness program/campaign, EVM-VVPAT awareness center will be established in the district headquarters and both the sub-divisional offices (CHAS/BERMO). At the same time, people will be made aware through mobile vans demonstration at all the polling stations in the district. It is noteworthy that before this, Kuldeep Chaudhary also held a meeting with representatives of various political parties in the Collectorate Auditorium and appraised all in detail regarding the programme/campaign.
