Crime branch arrest 2 drug peddlers, seize 4.5 kgs of contraband

Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested two drug peddlers who used to bring Cannabis by road from Odisha to Bhopal in a Traveller vehicle. The roof of the vehicle was cut to make a box which was used to smuggle drugs.

Police have seized the vehicle along with four and a half kg of Cannabis from the possession of the accused. The value of the seized goods is around Rs 5.5 lakh. Action has been taken against both the accused under the NDPS Act.

According to the police, on Friday night, information was received that two people were sitting in a white coloured Traveller vehicle bearing registration number MP41L0131 at Jamboree  Maidan Piplani. Both were waiting to deliver Cannabis to the customer. After the information, the Crime Branch team reached the spot. Both the youths were taken into custody and on searching the Traveller, a black coloured backpack was found under the back seat. When the bag was opened, four packets wrapped in brown coloured tape were found inside it. Four and a half kg of drug was kept in these packets. The cost of the seized ganja is about       Rs 80000.

The accused told the police that they had bought Cannabis from unknown people from the forests of Odisha on the instructions of Mahendra Yadav and Ashok Vishwakarma, residents of Vidisha. A total of 90 packets of ganja were brought.

The ganja was hidden in a box made on the roof of the Traveller vehicle. Other packets of cannabis were delivered to the address given by Mahendra in Vidisha.

The accused were identified as Suraj Yadav (21) of Kokta bypass Bilkhiriya who studied till class 8. He has been booked earlier under the NDPS Act in Vidisha district.

Hari Singh Gurjar (22) of Uday Giri Road Ganesh Pura Vidisha has studied till class 8. Currently he does a job with a private fiim.
