Tata UISL has announced its imminent appointment of a consultant to expedite the provision of electricity in Birsanagar and other surrounding areas. This announcement came during a meeting on Tuesday with Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy, who has been advocating for the rapid deployment of Tata Steel UISL electricity in various localities. The meeting was led by Tata Steel UISL general manager VP Singh.
Roy’s persistent efforts have led to a significant move to enhance electricity access in the settlements of Birsanagar, Moharda, Bagunhatu, Bagunnagar, Baridih Basti, Chhayanagar, Bhuiyandih, Lalbhatta, Babudih, Jamco, Laxminagar, Gayatrinagar, and Gwala Basti. The General Manager's commitment to appoint a consultant marks a decisive step towards this goal.
During the meeting, Roy emphasized the urgency of selecting sub-station sites to ensure efficient electricity distribution. The discussion focused on Baridih, Shantinagar, and Shaktinagar as priority areas for these installations. Currently, cable laying work has commenced in Moharda and Murakati, with a sub-station planned near Telco Sewerage Plant and Ramni Kali Temple. Additionally, sub-station construction near the Bagunnagar De-addiction Centre is underway, coupled with simultaneous LT network installation.
Tata Steel UISL has also received the necessary financial recommendations to begin laying the electricity network in Bhuiyandih, and preparations are in full swing. The network extension in Chhayanagar, Humepipe, and Kalyannagar is progressing, with 28 applications for electricity connections already submitted by residents. The authorities are encouraging more residents to apply for connections to benefit from the improved electricity services.
This initiative is set to benefit approximately 2,000 households. Shri Rai has directed officials to accelerate the network expansion in Block 'B' and 'C' of Bagunnagar. Following his proposal, a new sub-station has been constructed in Bagunnagar, increasing the area's power capacity from 2 KVA to 10 KVA. Residents are currently receiving forms to apply for electricity connections.
Physical verification for the Tata Steel UISL electricity network and sub-station construction in Jamco, Laxminagar, and Gayatrinagar will commence soon. High mast and street lights will also be installed in 10 No. Basti, Kashidih, and Sitaramdera as part of the broader initiative.
The meeting included Executive Engineer of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, Tata Steel UISL representatives, representatives of Jamshedpur Akshes, MLA Saryu Roy’s personal secretary Sudhir Singh, and other officials, all working collectively towards a brighter, more electrified future for Jamshedpur.
