Gwalior's first woman collector Ruchika Chauhan, during discussions with journalists here on Wednesday talked about planning a new employment program for the youth. She said that a new scheduling is prepared for the youth of the city so that they are ready to work in good companies and industries in a positive direction.

The collector further said that Gwalior is strategically located and industrial areas like Delhi and Noida are very close. She said that the administration will contact companies in these areas and will try to create new employment opportunities for the youth. A framework will be prepared so that the youth of the city can get better employment opportunities. The collector further said that the administration’s   priority is to provide employment to the unemployed under the schemes run by the government so that the unemployment rate in Gwalior is reduced.

On the topic of elections, the collector said that preparations are going on for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the code of conduct may be announced soon.

She added that the administration is fully aware about the security issues and will work with all departments to see that the elections are conducted safely. On the topic of water scarcity she said that keeping in mind the coming summer, the main focus of her administration will be on improving drinking water system.

She also said that special campaigns will be conducted to stop food adulteration. Before being posted in Gwalior, Ruchika Chauhan was posted as Additional Secretary in the state government. She has experience of working on important positions like Ratlam Collector, Additional Collector, Joint Election Officer of Gwalior and Bhopal and positions in other departments including urban development and administration.
