CM reviews progress of Family ID scheme

Friday, 21 June 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

In a high-level meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the progress of the Family ID scheme, which aims to provide every family in Uttar Pradesh with a unique identification number.

This initiative is intended to streamline the delivery of government benefits and improve governance.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significance of the Family IDs in ensuring that every deprived and poor person benefits from government schemes. He emphasised that the Family ID will serve as the basis for ease of living and good governance.

The scheme is designed to connect at least one member of each family with employment services, thereby enhancing their living standards.

The chief minister noted that approximately 15.07 crore people from around 3.60 crore families in Uttar Pradesh are currently benefiting from the National Food Security Scheme, using their ration card numbers as their Family IDs. Additionally, over one lakh families without ration cards have been issued Family IDs. Families without ration cards are encouraged to register at https://familyid.up.gov.in to obtain their Family ID. This effort aims to ensure that no family in the state is left out.

Under the ‘One Family, One Identity’ scheme, each family is being issued a unique ID, which will help create a comprehensive live database of family units in the state. This database will assist in better management of beneficiary-oriented schemes, enabling timely targeting, transparent operations, and ensuring 100 per cent delivery of benefits to eligible families.

The Family ID scheme is expected to benefit 25 crore people in Uttar Pradesh. The integrated database obtained through Family IDs will help identify families lacking employment, allowing the government to prioritise them for appropriate employment opportunities.

Currently, 76 schemes and services run by the Central and state governments have been linked to the Family ID scheme. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that all remaining beneficiary-oriented schemes should also be integrated with the Family ID. Additionally, the database of all schemes run with the cooperation of the Central government should be obtained and linked to the Family Welfare Pass Book and Family ID.

The chief minister also stressed the importance of Aadhaar application and Aadhaar authentication in the online application process for all beneficiary-oriented (DBT) schemes and services. This will help increase the coverage of the Family ID. Aadhaar authentication is to be ensured during new admissions in ITIs, polytechnics and other higher education institutions, with the details then linked to the Family ID.

Moreover, Yogi Adityanath called for the simplification of the process of issuing caste and income certificates to avoid unnecessary delays. A passbook should be prepared for each family, detailing the benefits they receive from government schemes. Before issuing the passbook and Family ID, all information about the family should be properly certified, with cooperation from all relevant departments.

The chief minister concluded by reiterating the critical role of the Family ID in promoting good governance and ensuring that every citizen can access the benefits they are entitled to, thereby improving the overall standard of living in Uttar Pradesh.
