CM’s men forcibly taken over parks, started illegal parking collections: BJP

Tuesday, 01 October 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The BJP on Monday charged that Chief Minister Atishi’s men have forcibly taken over parks and started illegal parking collections in her constituency.  It was also claimed hundreds of saplings were destroyed.

Making these allegations, Leader of Opposition in Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD)Raja Iqbal Singh said here on Sunday afternoon in the MCD Park located in Krishna Market, Kalkaji,  Atishi’s representative Vandana Sinha, along with AAP leader  Shivani Chauhan came with some goons and attempted to park vehicles forcibly.

When local people, along with the municipal councilor from Kalkaji and BJP state vice-president Yogita Singh, questioned them, they responded by saying Atishi is not just an MLA but the Chief Minister now.

Raja Iqbal Singh, Councilor Yogita Singh, and Rajpal Singh held a press conference on Monday condemning the illegal parking setup by the Chief Minister. They demanded strict action against the AAP goons by filing a police complaint for attempting to take over the park.

Raja Iqbal Singh said pollution will peak in the coming times, and Delhiites will need parks and trees. However, the AAP goons have started encroaching on parks for their illegal collections.

He added that AAP goons began illegal parking and started extorting money from the public. Seeing this, local councilor  Yogita Singh, along with Kalkaji residents, informed the police, and the illegal parking was removed. However, by then, hundreds of saplings in the park had been destroyed.

Raja Iqbal Singh questioned Atishi, asking how many parks she has developed in the last five years and what steps have been taken to protect Delhiites from pollution. He warned that Delhi citizens will no longer tolerate such hooliganism.

Yogita Singh said during her first visit to the assembly after winning the election, Atishi incited violence against BJP councilors and now her people are carrying out similar actions in her constituency.

She also mentioned that the damage to the saplings in the park is a matter she will raise with the NGT, as it involves the destruction of government property.
