The national Capital continued to grapple with intense heatwave conditions on Tuesday as temperatures soared above 46 degrees celsius. A day after Delhi felt like sizzling at 50 degrees, the heat index or the feels like temperature in the city was recorded at 48.8 degrees celsius.
Northwest Delhi’s Pitampura area recorded the highest temperature at 46.1 degrees celsius, seven notches above the normal, in Delhi, for the second consecutive day. The minimum temperature settled at 33.8 degrees Celsius, six notches above the season’s average.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted mainly clear sky and heatwave to severe heatwave conditions and strong surface winds. Safdarjung weather station, considered as a parameter for the whole of Delhi, recorded 44 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature, 5.2 degrees above the normal. The minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 33.8 degrees Celsius, six notches above the season’s average.
While Aya nagar recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees celsius, Lodi road recorded 44.1 degrees, Palam 44.4 degrees, Ridge 44.7 degrees, Jafarpur 45.5 degrees, Najafgarh 42.8 degrees, Pragati Maidan 43.1 degrees, Pusa 44.3 degrees, Rajghat 43.1 degrees, and Salwan public school 43.6 degrees.
