Case registered against SP MP Afzal Ansari

Monday, 30 September 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

A case has been registered against Ghazipur MP and Samajwadi Party leader Afzal Ansari for his statement on legalising ganja.

This case was registered against the MP by Gora Bazaar police outpost in-charge Rajkumar Shukla. The FIR was registered against Afzal Ansari under Section 353 (3) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Afzal Ansari had recently given a statement on legalising ganja. Taking cognisance of his statement, an FIR was registered in Sadar Kotwali. Sadhus and saints are very angry over the statement given by the Samajwadi Party MP.

Afzal Ansari had recently raised the demand for legalisation of ganja. He had said that ganja should be legalized as lakhs of people smoke it openly. He said ganja was smoked openly in religious events by calling it god'’ prasad and herb. He also said that if ganja was sent to kumbh in a cart, it would be consumed.

While demanding legalisation of ganja, Ansari had said that when licence was given for Lord Shankar’s prasad bhang, why there was no licence for ganja.

He added that people say that smoking ganja increases hunger and also keeps one healthy, so our demand is that it should be given the status of law.

Reacting to Afzal Ansari’s statement, Swami Jitendrananda Saraswati of All India Saint Committee said whatever the Samajwadi Party MP said was indecent.

The committee said that the Maha Kumbh was a festival of Sanatan and making indecent comments about it would not be tolerated.

Mahamandaleshwar Atuleshanand Maharaj of Ujjain said Afzal Ansari’s intellect had become corrupted.
