Out of 20,632 polling stations, 144 designated as model polling stations

Chandigarh: Of the total 20,632 polling stations established across the State for Haryana assembly polls, 144 are designated as model polling stations. Sharing information, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal on Sunday said that among these, 115 polling stations will be entirely managed by women staff, 114 by youth employees, and 87 by PwD employees. Webcasting will be conducted at all polling stations on the election day.

 

“The home voting process for voters aged 85 years and above, as well as for disabled voters, will be completed on September 30…Voters, aged above 85 years and Persons with Disabilities (PwD), had submitted applications to the concerned Returning Officer. Upon approval by the ROs, home voting facilities are being provided to 9,596 voters over the age of 85 and 2,600 PwD voters,” he said.

 

Agarwal said that including reserved units, a total of 27,866 Electronic Voting Machines (ballot units) will be used in the elections. Along with this, 24,719 control units and 26,774 VVPAT machines will be used during the election process. Voters can verify their vote on VVPAT machine after casting it. For security, 225 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have already been deployed for the election. Apart from this, 500 flying squad teams and 461 state surveillance teams are also on duty, the CEO added.

 

No illegal mining in Yamunanagar after formation of Cong Govt: Hooda

Yamunanagar: Stating that there has been massive illegal mining in Yamunanagar district over the last 10 years, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday said that after the formation of Congress government, illegal mining would be curbed as it had ruined natural resources in Yamunanagar and other districts of the state. “Congress Government would allow only legal mining, so there’s no loss of natural resources and people get employment,” he said while addressing an election rally organized by Congress candidate Raman Prakash Tyagi.

 

Voters should not waste their votes on BJP, Cong: Mayawati

Chandigarh: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday called upon the people of Haryana to vote for the BSP, highlighting the purported neglect and disdain shown by both the Congress and BJP towards Dalits. She urged voters to be mindful of this “historical neglect” when casting their votes in the forthcoming elections. Mayawati, in a post on ‘X’, stated, “The continuous neglect and contempt of Dalits by the Congress during the Assembly elections in Haryana shows that things are not right within the party. If things are not right now, what can be expected in the future? Dalits should not waste their vote on the Congress or the BJP.” She further accused the Congress of consistently opposing reservation, asserting, “Dalits should vote unanimously for BSP because it is the only party that continuously fights to protect their interests, ensure their welfare, and secure their constitutional rights.”

 

No govt can be formed in Haryana without AAP's support: Kejriwal

Gurugram: Stating that Haryana wants change and development, AAP convener and Delhi’s former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that the government cannot be formed in Haryana without AAP’s support.  Addressing a rally in Badshahpur in support of AAP candidate Beer Singh alias Beeru Sarpanch, Kejriwal said: “Haryana wants change and development. The government cannot be formed in Haryana without AAP's support.” Alleging that he was “intentionally put behind bars in a false case”, Kejriwal appealed to voters to “throw the BJP out of power…BJP targeted me because of my honesty. AAP Government developed better schools and provided better health facilities in the national capital, which the BJP did not like”.

 

BJP Expels Eight Rebel Leaders in Haryana 

Chandigarh: BJP on Sunday expelled former minister Ranjit Singh Chautala and seven other rebels for six years after they decided to contest the October 5 state Assembly polls as independent candidates. Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli has expelled these leaders for a period of six years with immediate effect. Besides Chautala, Sandeep Garg (contesting the polls from Ladwa), Zile Ram Sharma (Assandh), Devender Kadian (Ganaur), Bachan Singh Arya (Safidon), Radha Ahlawat (Meham), Naveen Goel (Gurugram) and Kehar Singh Rawat (Hathin) have been expelled from the party. Earlier, Haryana Congress expelled 13 leaders on Friday for “anti-party activities” over their decision to contest the polls as independent candidates.

 

Nadda assures smart city status for Panchkula

Panchkula: BJP national president and Union Minister JP Nadda on Sunday assured an increase in the health cover under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya scheme from Rs five lakh to up to Rs 10 lakh upon formation of BJP-led State Government in Haryana. Nadda, speaking during a convention organized in support of BJP candidate Gian Chand Gupta, assured that if brought to power, the BJP will focus on making Panchkula a smart city. Nadda said that BJP has brought about fundamental changes in the country. Referring to Gian Chand Gupta, Nadda said that Panchkula MLA has shared his report card of the last 10 years. “He has worked extensively for the people and delivered projects. BJP's manifesto is a vision document for the next five years,” he added.
