Hry CM to be chief guest at State-level function on Good Governance Day in Gurugram

Chandigarh: A state-level function will be organized in Gurugram on the occasion of Good Governance Day on December 25 in which Chief Minister  Nayab Singh Saini will participate as the chief guest. According to a letter issued by the Chief Secretary's Office, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar will be the chief guest at the district-level function in Faridabad while Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan will be the chief guest at the district-level function in Kaithal. Energy Minister Anil Vij will attend the function in Sirsa, Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar in Hisar, Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh in Nuh and School Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda will attend the function in Bhiwani as chief guests. 


15 lakh people reached de-addiction centers in 5 years for drug treatment, alleges Bhupinder Hooda

Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday alleged that the ruling BJP Government has turned Haryana, a land of milk and curd, into a hub of drugs, opium, synthetic drugs, heroin, brown sugar, smack, hashish, ganja, cocaine, bhang and sulpha. “Ever since BJP has come to power in the state, drug dealers have been having a field day and they have fearlessly spread their network all over the state. Today, drugs have reached every village, street and locality of the state,” he stated. Senior Congress leader said that the extent to which drug addiction has increased in the state can be gauged from the fact that in the last 5 years, about 15 lakh people from different districts of the state have reached the OPDs and de-addiction centres of government hospitals. He said that the figure can be many times bigger than this as lakhs of people trapped in the quagmire of drug addiction do not come forward for treatment and ruin their lives.


Organise trade fairs at district level, Haryana CS tells officials


Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi on Tuesday directed the Trade Fair Authority of Haryana (TFAH) to explore opportunities for organizing trade fairs at the state level in collaboration with foreign countries, with support from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). These trade fairs will showcase the cuisine, culture, and products of the partner countries, alongside the products manufactured by Haryana’s local industries. Presiding over the 35th Governing Body Meeting of the HTFA here in Chandigarh, Joshi, who also serves as the Chairman of the Trade Fair Authority of Haryana, emphasized the need to boost local industries. He directed officials to develop a comprehensive plan for organizing district-level trade fairs to provide crucial platforms for local artisans and traders to market and sell their products.  Joshi also stressed the importance of utilizing these events to promote various central and state government schemes, ensuring the public is made aware of their benefits. He instructed officials to submit a detailed report on the revenue generated, employment opportunities created and the footfall recorded at these trade fairs.

Conduct Panjab university senate election without wasting time, Kapurthala MLA

Kapurthala: Congress MLA from Kapurthala, Rana Gurjeet Singh on Tuesday demanded that elections for electing members of Panjab University, Chandigarh senate be conducted at the earliest. He said the university senate is governing council as is top decision making body which has a diaspora of members from different constituencies including academicians, administrators in the field of education, university graduates and elected representatives from the state legislative assembly. The term of the senate ended on October 31 last year and process for the election begins in March, six months in advance, but this time no preparations are no visible on the ground, he said. In the 91 member senate 35 members are nominated and remaining come through election. The senate is the university’s top body, supervising its affairs, issues and property. All decisions related to academics and the budget requires final approval. “This is the first time the elections have been delayed due to the chancellor’s office not approving the schedule”, said the congress MLA.


Employees regularized under 2014 policy to be eligible for promotion 

 

Chandigarh: Employees regularized under the Regularization Policy of 2014 in Haryana will be eligible for promotion or first ACP scale benefits from June 13, 2024 or thereafter, provided they fulfill the eligibility conditions. Their promotion or ACP benefits will also depend on the final outcome of the SLP pending in the Supreme Court. Apart from this, a decision regarding promotion or first ACP scale benefits from the date of eligibility before June 13, 2024 will be taken later. In a letter issued by the Chief Secretary's Office on Tuesday, it has been stated that after the instructions issued in light of the interim order of the Supreme Court dated March 6, 2024, many cases were coming from various departments, boards and corporations, in which clarification was being sought whether the claims for promotion or benefit of First ACP Scale of the employees regularized under the Regularization Policy of 2014 should be accepted or not.

Hry Minister inaugurates 69th Crushing Season of Rohtak Cooperative Sugar Mill


Chandigarh: Haryana Cooperation Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the 69th crushing season of the Rohtak Cooperative Sugar Mill, located in Bhali Anandpur village in Rohtak district. In his address to farmers and mill employees, Sharma highlighted the state government's continued commitment to the welfare of sugarcane farmers.  He said that the state government will ensure timely payment to sugarcane farmers, with payments being processed within a week of the crop's delivery. 


Tewari raises issue of ban on share wise property in Chandigarh in Lok Sabha

CHANDIGARH: Senior Congress leader and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday raised the issue of ban on share wise property in Chandigarh in Lok Sabha. When the Supreme Court Judgement does not explicitly bar the sale or sharewise sale of Property why has the Chandigarh Administration banned it? He said, rather than giving a straight answer, the Government unfortunately chose to hide behind the doctrine of sub judice. The rule of sub judice was there for Jury Trials, he pointed out while observing, in any case if the Government implements the letter of the Supreme Court Judgment the other legal proceedings will automatically abate. Tewari had asked whether it is correct that the Supreme Court judgment does not explicitly ban share-wise property sales in Chandigarh. He also asked whether the Government was aware that many Chandigarh residents with property shares cannot sell except to co-owners, devaluing their assets and causing financial hardship for urgent needs like medical treatment or family events. Tewari had also asked for the reasons as to why has the Chandigarh Administration not rescinded the February 9, 2023 notification or sought Supreme Court clarification on whether the January 10, 2023 judgment prohibits share-wise property sales, reasons there for.

Former MLAs meet Hry Speaker, demand for revision of their pension

Chandigarh: The delegation of the former MLA Association led by its president Rambir Singh met Haryana Speaker Harvinder Kalyan on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum demanding revision of their pension. In a statement, Singh said that their demands include revision of pension, medical allowance and other facilities on the lines of Chhattisgarh.  Speaker assured them to bring their demands to the notice of the state government.

CM Saini to address public meeting in Pundri on Dec 19

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will address a public gathering at the new grain market in Pundri on December 19. During the event, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several important development projects aimed at improving the region's infrastructure. In preparation for the public meeting, SDM Ajay Singh held a review meeting with district officials, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Preeti, on Tuesday afternoon.

Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University, Rewari meets Hry CM

Chandigarh: Professor JP Yadav, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Mirpur, Rewari on Tuesday met with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and discussed various developments at the university. During the meeting, Professor Yadav presented a detailed report on the ongoing construction and infrastructure projects at IGU.
