Heavy rains lash parts of HP weather dept warns of more rainfall in next four days
Shimla: Heavy rains lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh, affecting vehicular traffic on Wednesday while the meteorological department warned of more rainfall along with thunderstorms till July 7. Katuala was the wettest in the state with 169 mm of rain followed by Pandoh with 117 mm, Sujanpura Tira 88 mm, Gohar 60 mm, Mashobra 58 mm and Dharamshala 56.4 mm, the meteorological department said. Jot received 54 mm of rain, Kahu 51.5 mm, Baggi 40.2 mm, Mandi 38.2 mm, Malron 35 mm, Baldwara and Sundernagar 30.6 mm each and Kufri 30 mm. As many as 18 roads, including 12 in Mandi, four in Chamba and one each in Kangra and Lahaul and Spiti districts were closed for vehicular traffic following rains. The local weather office issued a yellow warning for heavy rains along with thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh till July 7.
Committee formed to address Sexual Harassment complaints of women employees in Hry Civil Secretariat
Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Wednesday constituted an Internal Complaints Committee to provide protection against Sexual harassment to women at the workplace and to hear the complaints of sexual harassment of the female employees in the Haryana Civil Secretariat. According to a letter from the Chief Secretary's office, IAS officer Amneet P Kumar has been appointed as the Chairperson/Presiding Officer of the committee. IAS officer J Ganesan, Additional Advocate General Shubhra Singh, Under Secretary HSS-I Deepali Malik, and Chairperson, Center for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Dr Upneet Kaur Mangat, have been made members of this committee. The Presiding Officer and each member will serve on the committee for a maximum of three years from the date of their nomination.
‘First-Aid Kits’ to be purchased for Anganwadis: Hry Minister
Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Transport & Women and Child Development Aseem Goel on Wednesday announced that "First-Aid Kits" will be purchased for Anganwadis across the state to ensure primary medical treatment for children in case of any accident. The High Powered Purchase Committee headed by the Minister granted approval for this initiative. After the meeting, the Minister informed that electric buses will be introduced in several cities across the state. For the monitoring and management of these buses, tenders were awarded to a company for ITMS (Intelligent Transport Management System).
1,425 roads, spanning 4,655 kilometers set to improve during 2024-25: Hry Minister
Chandigarh: Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Department Minister Dr Banwari Lal on Wednesday said that the riding quality and condition of 1,425 roads, spanning 4,655 kilometers across the state, will be improved at a cost of Rs. 2,750 crore during the year 2024-25. This includes 51 State Highways covering 680 kilometers at a cost of Rs. 600 crore, 43 Major District Roads covering 725 kilometers at a cost of Rs. 500 crore, and 1,331 Other District Roads covering 3,250 kilometers at a cost of Rs. 1,650 crore. Dr. Banwari Lal made this revelation while addressing a press conference following a review meeting with senior officers of the Department in Panchkula.
200 people get tested in free medical checkup camp
Panchkula: A free medical checkup camp was organized under the aegis of Territorial Army Group Headquarters, Western Command, Chandimandir by Rotary Club Pinjore Hills and Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation Chandigarh. The camp was organized on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of the Territorial Army. This camp was inaugurated by Colonel Rajiv Sinha, Commanding Officer, 102 Infantry Battalion (TA) Punjab, Kalka, District Panchkula (Haryana).

Officers asked to improve sewerage system in Ballabgarh Assembly
Chandigarh: Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Mool Chand Sharma on Wednesday directed the officers concerned for improvement of the sewerage system in the Ballabgarh Assembly in light of the upcoming rainy season. He visited the disposal site at Sector-3 Tigaon Road with officers from various departments to review the cleaning and repair of sewer lines. Sharma emphasized the importance of regular inspection and maintenance of the sewerage system during the rainy season to prevent blockages and waterlogging issues. He also stressed repairing potholes on roads to avoid water accumulation and ensure smooth traffic flow. In case of waterlogging, special plans should be implemented for traffic management to prevent public inconvenience due to jams and other issues, directed the Minister.
Chd MC introduces two E-carts for compostable bags
Chandigarh: To make Chandigarh a plastic-free city, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh on Wednesday introduced two E-carts for compostable bags. This initiative, undertaken in association with Mobisoft Telesolutions under the CSR campaign "I HATE POLYTHENE," aims to make compostable bags available to vendors at reasonable rates at vegetable market, Sector 26 and Apni Mandis in different sectors. City Mayor Kuldeep Kumar formally flagged off the two e-carts at Sector 26 vegetable market and honored vendors. MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra informed that the MCC has been implementing various initiatives to reduce plastic waste, and the availability of E-carts for compostable bags at subsidized prices is yet another step towards achieving a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future under the "Safai Apnao Bimaari Bhagao" campaign.
