Patients arriving at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) via bus, tempo, or e-rickshaw will no longer have to walk to the hospital’s OPD or emergency medicine block.
The hospital administration is starting a free e-rickshaw service for such patients, starting Tuesday. Dr. Manisha Shrivastava, Director in-charge, BMHRC announced this during a program held on Monday to mark National Doctors' Day and the foundation day of BMHRC. Renowned pediatrician and Retired Director, National Health Mission Dr Pankaj Shukla, was the chief guest of the programme.
All the doctors of the hospital were honored, and a cultural program was organized during the event.Addressing the employees present at the event, Dr Manisha Shrivastava said that many people reach BMHRC using buses or other means of public transport, with a significant number being elderly patients.
They have to walk a considerable distance to reach the OPD or emergency ward. Considering their difficulties, a 6-seater e-rickshaw has been introduced to transport them from the main gate to the hospital premises free of charge. This rickshaw will be available at the hospital's main gate from Monday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, to transport patients to the hospital.
She mentioned that the agency contracted for this service is operated by a gas victim.
BMHRC is Moving in the Right Direction: Dr. Pankaj Shukla Dr. Pankaj Shukla congratulated all the doctors of BMHRC on National Doctors' Day and stated that this year's theme for National Doctors' Day 2024 is "Healing Hands, Caring Hearts," emphasizing doctors' compassion and dedication towards their patients.
Today, doctors cure patients of even the most severe diseases, but due to their busy schedules and stress, they often fail to form an emotional connection with them. Providing the e-rickshaw facility for needy patients by BMHRC administration is a good example of 'Caring Hearts.' He said that under the leadership of Dr Manisha Shrivastava, BMHRC is moving in the right direction, introducing new facilities in the hospital. He expressed confidence that, in the future, BMHRC would once again provide better treatment than large private hospitals. Daily Dr. Manisha Shrivastava stated that BMHRC was established on July 1, 2000. As the institution enters its 25th year, we have decided to dedicate the entire year to serving patients and the general public with daily activities. This initiative began today with honoring doctors and planting trees. A calendar is being created for various activities, and responsibilities are being assigned to all departments.
