Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on Saturday, has strongly targeted BJP's announcement of Constitution Hatya Diwas. The party said that yesterday a date was announced in the Gazette of India and that date will be 25 June which will be celebrated in the country as Constitution Hatya Diwas in the coming years. The religious text of the Country is the Constitution now the Government of India will celebrate the day of its murder, the party said.

Addressing a press meet, JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that in this Lok Sabha election, BJP's slogan of changing the Constitution came up, the slogan of crossing 400 was raised, then the restlessness of the people came down from 303 to 240. “It is this restlessness that the Government of India that is BJP declared June 25 as Constitution Hatya Diwas. It is a strange irony that the BJP now wants to murder the Constitution which we worship. Earlier there was talk of changing it. His reference was given that on June 25, 1975, Emergency was imposed in the country citing Section 352 of the Constitution itself. In that context, where civil rights are constitutional rights, it was suspended for two years. That was not something outside the Constitution. Yes, that period was a dark chapter for the Country's democracy,” he added.

The party General Secretary said that this was not the first time this had happened. Emergency was imposed during the war with China and Pakistan. “BJP has used 365 many times under the same Constitution. President's rule has also been imposed. That too is an emergency in a way. The first stamp of murder of the Constitution was put on 25 May 2014 when Modi took oath. The first economic emergency was imposed by Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016 by demonetization. That was an economic emergency when millions of people became unemployed. Then an emergency was declared in the Corona period without any preparation. Civil emergency was imposed. People were forced to die under complete lockdown. Emergency was imposed by bringing three agricultural laws for farmers. In which 750 people died,” he added.

Bhattacharya said that the day Manipur burned, an emergency was imposed on tribals. “Emergency was imposed on students due to the NEET paper leak. You imposed an emergency on jobs. You are privatizing all government institutions. You imposed an emergency on industrialization. You issued an order that students will have to read Manusmriti in Delhi University. This was an emergency. Emergency was imposed on the media. All media propagate the narrative created by the Government. Without your knowledge, arrests are made by the NIA. Without your knowledge, people are rotting in jail. You murder the Constitution every day, that's why you remembered that June 25 is Constitution Murder Day. On behalf of our party, we oppose this declaration and demand the President to cancel this unconstitutional notification of the Government of India,” he added.
