Bhopal records highest rainfall in Feb month in 9 years

State capital received the highest rainfall in the month of February after 9 years. More than half an inch, i.e., 15 mm of rain was recorded on Tuesday.

Earlier in the year 2014, there was 1.9 inches i.e., 47.9 mm rainfall in the entire month. Whereas there was no rain after 2018.

Accordingly, the highest rainfall was recorded in 9 years, while after 5 years the record of rainfall in February was also broken. Meteorologists said that the weather will remain changed in March.

According to IMD, Bhopal, two western disturbances are becoming active on February 29 and March 1 whose effect will be seen in Bhopal also. Therefore, the weather here will remain changed between March 28 and April 2.

From February 29 cloud cover will be witnessed, chances of rainfall are less likely.

With the start of the month of March there may be rain with thunder activity. There is a possibility of rain throughout the city.

The weather will remain changed on this day also. Light rain may also occur in the Berasia region.

On Tuesday, more than half an inch or 15 mm of rain was recorded in Bhopal. However, before this the effect of heat was seen. Due to this, the day temperature increased by 6 degrees and the mercury reached 31.8 degrees Celsius. Earlier on Monday-Tuesday night the temperature was recorded at 16.8 degrees.

In the year 2014, Bhopal received 1.9 inches i.e. 47.9 mm rainfall in the entire month of February. After this, 1 mm rainfall was recorded in 2016, 2.8 mm in 2017 and 13.3 mm in 2018. After this it did not rain. Accordingly, this time it rained on Tuesday after 5 years. At the same time, the record of highest rainfall in 9 years was also broken. 15 mm rain was recorded till 6 pm on Tuesday.

At 4 pm on Tuesday evening, suddenly a storm blew at a speed of 74 km per hour for three minutes. After this the city remained busy throughout the night. 15 trees fell in the city. An old tree fell on the shed of a house in Narayan Nagar in front of Barkatullah University. 2 electric poles fell in Palasi. A tin sheet spread on a house in Karond had flown and got stuck in a 33 KV line. Due to the storm, power supply remained disrupted in 350 colonies and localities of the city from 4 pm to 9 pm. The false ceiling in the office of the Institutional Finance Department of Vindhyachal Bhawan collapsed. Due to this, two officers narrowly escaped. Evening flights of Air India and Indigo from Delhi could not land in Bhopal in the evening due to bad weather. Both the flights were diverted to Indore. However, both these flights could land in Bhopal with a delay of one hour each.

There is a trend of cold at night, heat during the day and rain in the capital in the month of February. If we look at the data of the last 10 years, after February 20 the day temperature reaches beyond 31 degrees. At the same time, the nights also remain cold. This time also the weather has been similar so far. The temperature remained above 30 degrees for several days. Although there has been no rain for the last five years, this time the Meteorological Department has predicted rain. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature record has reached 1.7 degrees Celsius on the night of 11 February 1950, 74 years ago. At the same time, in the last 10 years the mercury has remained 2 to 6 degrees lower than normal.
