Another digital arrest for 24 hours reported in city

Another incident of 'Digital Arrested' was reported from the Kohefiza area in the state capital on Saturday, this time the target was a private school manager who was held hostage in his bedroom for 24 hours in the name of digital arrest.

Fraudsters called him introducing as an employee of DHL company. They told him that his parcel going to Bangkok had been tracked. Tiger skin, nails, 18 fake passports and 8 ATMs have been found along with his Aadhar card.

The victim Farrukh Anjum Khan said that he was not aware of this, the fraudsters instructed him to stay in a room in the name of investigation, kept under surveillance for 24 hours in his  bedroom. The victim has complained about the matter to the Cyber Crime Branch Bhopal. The police have started investigating the matter.

Khan, a resident living in the Housing Board Colony of Koh-e-Fiza area, received a call at 1:38 pm on Saturday. The caller introduced himself as an employee of DHL parcel company. He said that the parcel you sent to Bangkok is tracked by the Department of Customs.

After his denial of any connections in Bangkok the fraudsters trapped him.

After this, the fraudster asked to connect the call to Cyber Cell Delhi and made him talk to another person. They asked Farrukh to connect live and the background behind the fraudsters sitting in uniform on the video was such that it seemed like it was the office of Delhi Cyber Cell.

After this, one of the accused said that your Aadhaar number is being used in 7 states. This Aadhaar has been used in everything from money laundering to smuggling of remains of wild animals.

Many parcels have already been sent to Bangkok using this Aadhaar and in the name of investigation, the fraudsters asked him to remain under surveillance for 24 hours. On Sunday afternoon at around 2, when Farrukh went to the washroom, he opened another mobile and searched for news of digital arrest. As soon as he came out of the washroom he informed his wife and disconnected the call and approached Bhopal Cyber Cell office.

The police asked him to connect to the fraudsters again. Farrukh got connected to the fraudsters again and this time the fraudster scolded Farrukh severely.

Meanwhile, Bhopal Cyber Cell officials confronted the fraudster. After this, the accused disconnected the call. It is third incident in the past 7 days, which has been reported in the state capital.
