Ajay Chitnis, The Journey of a Documentarist and a Trailblazer

Noted Documentary and short film maker Ajay Chitnis was in Bhopal, exploring the potential in Madhya Pradesh. He has made more than 100 Documentaries so far and covered eminent personalities including the entrepreneurs across the country.

In Bhopal, he talked to The Pioneer at length about his journey. He feels that there are big faces in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and other cities of Madhya Pradesh. "Soon I shall explore the possibilities. There are major industrial groups in the State that I would like to cover," he said.

He developed passion towards film direction during his academic years. He has covered several eminent personalities including Dr Neelkanth Kalyani, Founder Chairman, Bharat Forge, Ram Jethmalani, Anna Hazare, Govind/ Rajesh Uttarakhandani from Syska, Arvind Vohra, Gionee, Priyamvada Bhaynkar, Soujanya Colours Pvt Ltd, the second largest colourant manufacturing company in the world, Rajesh Nigam, Karam Group, Mukhtar Amin, Super Industries, Manipal Dhaliwal, NRI Businessman, Lord Rami Ranger, Raman Aggarwal, Legal Jupitice, Rajesh Bhatwal, Neetiraj Group and Rohit Gadia, Capital Via.

He never forgets to mention the story of lawyer Payal Chawla from Delhi, whose biopic had received accolades from all over the world. When he came across the story of Payal Chawla who fought against leading MNC at the highest court in India, on pregnancy and young mother-hood discrimination.

"Although, she lost the litigation, I found fascinating that a woman who is so highly educated could have suffered blatant harassment at the hands of her employer. Amazingly, her entire case which was documented in detailed letters, was very rare in gender bias," he said, adding that the Documentary on gender bias titled Payal Chawla 'The Mind that Matters' is the story full of intrigue and anguish in equal measure.

"This Documentary has given me immense joy, solace and creative satisfaction. This subject is very close to my heart," he said. The poster of Payal Chawla's story was displayed on Times Square in New York on March 8, the International Women's Day.

Ajay Chitnis has done his schooling and college in various parts of the country, primarily in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. His impressive work ethic and passion for film making brought him several accolades. He has produced and directed a music video 'Dama dum Mast Kalandar' for Times Music and produced five commercials for a leading diamond brand. Chitnis has his primary target set on direction of Documentaries.
