After taking over as the Chief Minister of State on Friday Champai Soren and his two Cabinet colleagues Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta convened the first Cabinet meeting of the new government, in which three decisions were taken. Approval was given to cancel the fourteenth (budget) session of the fifth Jharkhand Legislative Assembly (from February 09, 2024 to February 29, 2024).
The Cabinet decided to convene the fourteenth session of the fifth Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from February 05, 2024 to February 06, 2024. It was also decided to re-appoint former Advocate General, Jharkhand Rajiv Ranjan, to the post of Advocate General, Jharkhand.
Addressing media persons after the Cabinet meeting, CM Champai Soren said that Hemant Soren's tenure was very good. His remaining work will be completed quickly. “In this new government, we will complete all the work in the public interest keeping in mind every section of the people. There has been conflict over water, forest and land for years. The identity of the tribal people here has to be saved. We will take the sentiments of the people along with us. We will do the floor test soon,” he said.
Soren praised former CM Hemant Soren and said that he has done good work in public interest for four years. He said that our government will work to save the tribal-indigenous identity. The aim of our government from the beginning is to develop Jharkhand. The CM said that the government will take all the schemes of the Hemant Soren government forward rapidly.
Describing Hemant Soren as a warrior, Champai Soren said that we will take forward the work that Hemant Soren has done in the last 4 years. Hemant Soren led well even in difficult circumstances and an epidemic like Corona. He ran the government wisely. He raised and strengthened the basic issues of the tribals here. The CM said that this government was kept away from development plans from rural areas to urban areas for years but Hemant Soren worked in this direction. We will move forward with those plans and work rapidly so that both sectors and every section benefits.
He said that the government will work in public interest keeping all areas in mind. Jharkhand is a state full of mineral wealth, struggling for years to protect water, forest and land. Despite this, an attempt was made to destabilize the government by implicating the party's young leader Hemant Soren. Now the government will work to show the mirror to its opponents through its work. Soren said that Hemant Soren was doing very good work, due to which the opponents got scared and tried to trap him. He said that Hemant Soren is fighting for justice, he will definitely succeed and he will get justice.
CM Champai Soren said that this battle has been fought for years. It has a long history. Our ancestors fought for water, forest and land. Agitators like Tilka Manjhi, Sidho-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano, Dharti Aba Birsa Munda and Tana Bhagat fought for the survival of Jharkhandis. They never compromised on self-respect. He said that it will be our endeavour to bring the ideals of those agitators to the ground and work in the interest of tribals, indigenous people, Dalits and common citizens.
