Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai on Friday said that the AAP government approved 100 projects worth Rs 93 crores in a bid to boost development in Delhi's villages.
In a meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat and chaired by Rai, the Delhi Gram Vikas Board approved 100 schemes to ensure development in the capital's villages.
“These include development works related to roads, drains, water bodies, community centers, parks, crematoriums, and playgrounds. The projects will be carried out in Delhi's rural areas at a cost of Rs 93 crore. During the meeting, officials were instructed to complete the village development projects within the stipulated time frame,” a statement said.
During the meeting, members raised concerns about pending and new proposals. In response, the senior AAP leader said that the government had established the Delhi Gram Vikas Board to ensure the development of Delhi’s villages. “These projects aim to improve amenities across all villages in Delhi. Additionally, department officials were instructed to process project files related to village development within the stipulated time frame,” it stated.
Speaking about the decision, he said, “The board has approved the installation of 100 benches in large villages and 20 benches in smaller villages. These development projects, under the Development Department, are being implemented through the Irrigation and Flood Control Department and the MCD.”
