80-year-old man dies as his bicycle was hit by unidentified vehicle

An 80-year-old man died after his bicycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle in the Bairagarh area on Sunday  morning.

The man had left home for cycling in the morning. After the accident, people present on the spot took him to a private hospital. Where doctors checked him and declared him dead. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.

According to Bairagarh police station, Umesh Verma (80) was a resident of Sawan Nagar, near Halalpura bus stand. He was a retired officer of MPRDC. Umesh Verma's daughter Purnima Verma said that her father used to cycle every morning for the last 20 years.

On Sunday morning also he had left home for cycling. At around 6:30 in the morning, he was cycling on the main road of the pump house. Shortly after, a speeding car hit him. People present on the spot admitted him to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile a 45-year-man who was kidnapped and assaulted in Piplani area died after 10 days of treatment, he was kidnapped and assaulted on June 13.

Since then he was undergoing treatment at AIIMS. Where the youth admitted on Saturday died during treatment.

The police had registered a case of kidnapping and attempt to murder and arrested the accused. After the death of the youth, the police are preparing to increase the section of murder against the accused. The medical report revealed that he had suffered serious injuries.

Police station in-charge Anurag Lal said that Shravan Kumar (45), of Chandmari slum Piplani, used to work as labourer. The employees operating foreign liquor in Ratnagiri suspected him of doing illegal liquor business.

He brings liquor from other contracts and sells it at a cheap price. Shravan Kumar had gone to the market on June 13. During that time, liquor employees Bhanu, Satish, Raghuveer and Vinod kidnapped him by putting him in the car near Piplani market.

The accused kept beating him in the moving car while roaming in the market. Later, they pushed him out of the moving car in the complex behind the shops and left. After the incident, the family members took Shravan Kumar to AIIMS, where he was undergoing treatment.
