The Food Safety and Drug Administration seized 36 quintals of mawa worth Rs 8.25 lakh in front of GB Convent Higher Secondary School in Bajaria.
With the advent of wedding season to meet the demand spurious mawa is brought illegally in the city, a large quantity of mawa was brought to Bhopal by train on Tuesday night.
Out of this, 36 quintals of mawa worth Rs 8.25 lakh was seized by the Food Safety and Drug Administration team in front of GB Convent Higher Secondary School in Bajaria. This mawa was being supplied to traders. Mawa was brought to Bhopal from Gwalior. At present, it is unclaimed. No one has claimed it.
Food Safety and Drug Administration officers seized mawa when it was being taken from the railway station for delivery to traders. The staff has taken samples of the seized mawa. These will be sent to the Street Food Laboratory for testing. At the same time, for testing 28 quintals of mawa kept outside the GRP police station located in Bhopal railway station premises, the Railway Food Safety Officer has been informed about the mawa supplied from Gwalior to Bhopal.
