‘Kala Mahotsav’- the flagship program of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, kicked off on Tuesday at the Jharkhand Educational Research and Training Council in Ranchi. As many as 641 participants from 24 districts will showcase their art.
State Education Project Director Shashi Ranjan was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day art festival to encourage the artistic talent of secondary level students. Padma Shri Madhu Mansuri Hansmukh, State Program Officer Dhirasen Soreng, Deputy Director of JCERT Pradeep Choubey, SDEO Naveen Bara also attended the program as special guests.
The event started with the music 'Mann Ki Veena' by the girl students of Giridih while Padma Shri Madhu Mansuri enthralled the audience by presenting the song 'Jharkhand Kar Kora'.
Addressing the audience, State Education Project Director Shashi Ranjan encouraged the participants and advised them to hone their artistic talent and develop it as a career option in the future. Giving the example of his life, Ranjan highlighted on the importance of artistic talents in the country's toughest examination 'Union Public Service Commission' and also said that the art festival is being organized in accordance with the concept of the New Education Policy 2020 as it has an important contribution in promoting holistic and comprehensive education among children.
State Program Officer Dhirasen Soreng said that the Education Department of the State Government and Jharkhand Education Project Council are committed to promote art. Art Festival is an excellent platform for the promotion of language, culture and local talents. He also said that in 2023, Jharkhand had won 3 out of 10 medals in the National Art Festival and our effort is to get maximum medals for the State this year too.
Padma Shri Madhu Mansuri said that nowadays it has become a fashion to perform art after drinking alcohol. This is an insult not only to art and culture but also to the land of India. He said that being busy performing and learning art gives us a healthy life.
In the State level Art Festival 2024, winners will get an opportunity to showcase their talent in a total of six art forms including classical music, playing musical instruments, dance, theater, visual arts and traditional storytelling. The winners will get cash prizes of Rs 25,000, 20,000 and 15000 as first, second and third prizes and certificates. The winning participants will also get an opportunity to represent Jharkhand in the National Art Festival to be held in New Delhi.
