Wednesday, 20 November 2024 | Divya Modi | Ranchi

Following the mantra, ‘Not even a single voter should be left out’ the District Administration of Jamtara has ensured inclusive voting for all in the great festival of democracy. To fulfill this objective, multi- dimensional efforts are being made by the District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Jamtara, so that maximum voting can be ensured in the district.

Under this, the District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Jamtara,  Kumud Sahay, during her field visit, while interacting with the residents of leprosy colony under Mihijam Municipal Council area, enquired about getting their names registered in the voter list.

The residents informed the official that they were unable to vote because the polling booth was far away while some did not even have a voter ID. Hearing this, the DC cum DEO decided to take the first initiative of getting their names registered in the voter list while a voter ID card was also made for the eligible voters.

Sahay further discussed about smooth voting of the leprosy affected electors and by following all the standard procedures, for the first time an auxiliary polling station was formed for the residents of this locality to ensure smooth voting of as many as 57 voters from here so that 100% of the voters can exercise their franchise easily.

A request to the Chief Election Officer, Jharkhand for consent to set up an auxiliary polling station was made and the same was also granted by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi. This is for the first time that 57 leprosy affected voters will exercise their franchise and ensure their participation in this great festival of democracy

For smooth voting of these voters at polling station number 362 ‘A’ Snehpur Community Hall, Hansi Pahari, polling officers, security forces, ramps, wheel chairs, drinking water, electricity and other basic facilities will be made available. Volunteers will also be present at the polling booth to help the electors in casting their votes smoothly.
