As many as 529 players who won medals in 21 sports were honoured with prize money. During this, prize money of about Rs 4.3290 crore was distributed among the players.
The players got the prize money during Jharkhand Sports Department organized a cash prize distribution program to honor the players at Shaurya Auditorium in Doranda in the State Capital on Friday. In this ceremony, Chief Guest Sports Minister Mithilesh Thakur, Sports Secretary Manoj Kumar and Sports Director Sandeep Kumar distributed prize money among the players.
In this program, Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat, Narayan Mahato and Simpa Minj were given an amount of Rs 7 lakh each. On this occasion, Sports Minister Mithilesh Thakur also unveiled the new website of Jharkhand Sports Authority.
During the program, the Sports Minister in his address talked about always helping the players. He said that the department is constantly trying to provide better facilities to the players. Apart from this, efforts are also being made to ensure that sports equipment and prize money are distributed on time.
On the occasion Thakur said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren is committed to the development of sports and he always talks for the players. Ranchi DSO Shivendra Kumar, Rupa Rani, Sports Department officials, Sports Co-ordinators and all the employees and players were present in this program.
