50-year-old man dies of electrocution in Dwarka

A 50-year-old man died of electrocution while repairing an electric pole in the Dwarka area in Delhi.

According to the police on Saturday, the deceased has been identified as Ram Naval and was an employee of Bombay Suburban Electric Supply (BSES).

DCP Dwarka Ankit Singh said, “The incident took place in Dwarka’s Mohan Garden area and upon receiving a PCR call from ESI hospital in Basai Darapur, the police staff of Mohan Garden reached there.”  Naval died due to electrocution followed by head injury as he fell from an electric pole of height of 15 feet, the doctors of the hospital said.

“Doctors said that Naval fell from a pole about 15 feet high, after he got electrocuted, on Saturday at 9.30 am. He was then referred to Ayushman Hospital in Dwarka Sector 10, where he was declared brought dead,” a senior police officer said.

Singh added, “After reaching at Ayushman Hospital, police staff collected the death summary of deceased Ram Naval on which doctor had stated that Final Diagnosis at the time of death:- A/H/O electric burn injury followed by fall from height with head injury.”

 Investigation is underway and his body has been shifted to Delhi’s Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital for postmortem, the officer said. A case under section 287 (Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 106(1) (Causing death by negligence) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered and investigation is underway.
