On Saturday, under the auspices of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, a "National Lok Adalat" was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Garhwa, at the Civil Court in Garhwa and the Sub-Divisional Civil Court in Nagar Untari. A total of 37,921 cases were resolved during the event, leading to the recovery of ₹13,69,80,719/- in revenue.
In accordance with the directives of Nalin Kumar, the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, all officers were assigned to adjudicate matters related to the National Lok Adalat within their respective benches.
The National Lok Adalat was jointly inaugurated by Nalin Kumar, the Principal District and Sessions Judge, K.K. Jha, Judge of the Family Court, Dipak Kumar Pandey, Superintendent of Police member of the District Legal Services Authority, and G.K. Sinha, President of the Advocates' Association, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge also announced that the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), Ranchi, had conducted the online inauguration of legal services clinics in 50 panchayats across Garhwa district. Notably, 50 new Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) were appointed at these clinics, enabling the District Legal Services Authority to enhance legal awareness in every block.
From the Family Court, a total of 34 cases were resolved, including one case in which a husband and wife reinstated their marital rights through mutual agreement and returned home, pledging to avoid future disputes.
Ravi Chaudhary, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, stated that a total of 19 benches were formed for the successful conduct of this National Lok Adalat. Among them were Skill Kishore Jha-2, Chief Judge of the Family Court, Dinesh Kumar, First Additional District and Sessions Judge and Special Judge for POCSO Court, Shivnath Tripathi, Third District and Sessions Judge, Kumar Vipul, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sangeeta, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, and Vina Kumari, among others at the Garhwa Civil Court, as well as Sanjay Kumar Singh, First Additional District and Sessions Judge, Manoj Kumar Tripathi, Second Additional District and Sessions Judge, Arvind Kachhap, and others at the Nagar Untari Sub-Divisional Civil Court.
The National Lok Adalat proved to be a significant success, resolving a total of 37,921 cases across various categories. These included 107 bank-related cases, 340 criminal compoundable cases, 114 electricity-related cases, 10 cases under the Motor Vehicles Act, 35 cases from family courts, one case related to the Negotiable Instruments Act, one civil case, as well as 36,693 cases from various subdivisions, consumer disputes, and 621 revenue-related cases. This effort resulted in a substantial revenue recovery of ₹13,69,80,719.
The successful organisation of the National Lok Adalat can be attributed to the commendable contributions of judicial personnel Amar Kumar, Mrs Sumitra Devi, Rajesh Kumar, as well as PLV Surya Dev Chaudhary and the administration.
