21-year-old woman killed in mishap, her husband escapes

A 21-year-old married woman died while her husband escaped with injuries after their bike slipped and she was mowed down by a speeding truck at Bajrang square on Raisen road on Wednesday

Police said that a woman died while the man riding the bike escaped with serious injuries after their bike was hit by a speeding Bhopal Municipal Corporation truck at Bajrang intersection.

Family members told that Rekha Bansal got married three months ago with Prem Narayan who worked as a labourer in Raisen. Two days ago, Rekha and her husband left Raisen on Wednesday evening to visit her younger brother who got injured when his motorcycle slipped.

This incident happened at Bajrang intersection at around 8 pm. According to the police, Rekha died after being hit by the rear tire of the Municipal Corporation's garbage collecting vehicle.

After the preliminary investigation police sent the body for the post mortem. Police have started further investigation.

The reason behind the accident would be revealed in the investigation, said police. 

Meanwhile police have registered a case of murder against an unknown person in the case of new born's body being found in the Bagsevania area.

This case of murder was registered four months after the incident. According to the police, on October 28, 2023, information was received about body of a newborn lying on the banks of the canal in front of Om Nagar. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and sent it for postmortem.

The investigation also revealed that the newborn was thrown on the banks of the canal just two days after birth.

The postmortem report said that the newborn died due to head injury. After informing senior officials about the report, advice was taken from the District Prosecution Officer in this matter. Following this advice, the police have registered a case of murder against an unknown person. However, the police are yet to find out who had thrown the newborn there. An attempt was made to find clues by interrogating the nearby hospitals but nothing could be found.
