20-year-old nabbed for sexually assaulting minor girl

Kolar police have arrested a 22-year-old youth who sexually assaulted a minor girl luring her of marriage and later refused to marry her, girl was seven pregnant when she lodged a complaint on Friday.

Police said that on Friday a 17 year-old-girl, along with her relatives, came to the police station at Kolar police station and lodged a complaint against Saad Khan.

In her complaint she stated that she was acquainted with the accused for the past one year and she was sexually assaulted several times by promising to marry her and after being sexually assaulted she became pregnant and later Saad refused to marry her.

Based on the complaint after preliminary investigation police have registered a case under section 376 (2) (N) IPC, section 5 and 6 of the POCSO Act.

As the case was of sexual assault with a minor girl, the matter was immediately informed to the senior officers, who directed to arrest the accused as soon as possible and take further action in the case.

A police team was dispatched in search of the accused and arrested the accused Saad Khan of Gehunkheda Bairagarh Chichli.

Meanwhile, the body of a 27-year-old youth who left house two days ago was found in a pond near Nai Mandi Bridge, police have not ruled out chances of foul play.

The deceased identified as Vicky Manjhi left home two days ago to pluck lotus flowers.

Police have found the slippers and bag of the youth near the spot of the incident. Police suspect that the young man went into deep water while trying to pluck flowers and drowned.

A case has been registered and investigation has been started in the matter.

According to Gautam Nagar Police, Vicky Manjhi (27) son of Padam Manjhi was a resident of Imami Gate. He used to sell flowers at Nai Mandi Gate. On Friday, he left home saying that he was going to pluck lotus flowers from the Blooman Colony pond under Mandi Bridge.

When he did not return till the next day, the family informed the local police station about the matter. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased was informed about the body being found in the pond. They reached the spot and identified the deceased.
