A 19 year old mother allegedly died by committing suicide in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. According to the police, a suicide note has been recovered in which she wrote that no one is responsible and that she has committed suicide of her own accord.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said, “On December 20, a PCR call was received at Malviya Nagar police station from AIIMS Trauma Centre regarding a patient, aged 19 years, who was declared brought dead.”
He said that her husband, namely Sandeep, was also present at the hospital and was questioned. “He stated that his wife, aged 38 years, was unable to conceive a child, so on the advice of some relatives, he married the deceased, a native of district West Champaran in Bihar, in September 2023, with the consent of his first wife,” the DCP added.
He said that the deceased gave birth to a baby girl who is now five months old. “Today, at around 1:30 PM, while the husband went to pick up his brother’s son from school, the deceased allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her room. The exhibits, including the ligature material (a chunni), a suicide note, and the deceased’s mobile phone, were seized from the spot and taken into police possession for further investigation.”
