The Sasakawa-India Leprosy Foundation (S-ILF) proudly organised its 11th Youth Festival on Monday, at the Oriental Institute of Science and Technologies, Bhopal. This vibrant event brought together 160 students from 30 colleges across India, creating a platform for cultural exchange, celebration, and awareness.
The unique aspect of the festival was the participation of students from diverse backgrounds. Half of the attendees hailed from Leprosy colonies, youth whom S-ILF supports through scholarships for professional courses, and the other half came from various colleges where S-ILF conducts sensitisation workshops on Leprosy.
The foundation's commitment to inclusivity and education shone through as students from different walks of life united under the banner of the Youth Festival.Esteemed personalities graced the event to recognize and encourage the young talents.
Tarun Das, Former Director General, CII, and Chairman of S-ILF; S Mahalingam, Former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Executive Director, Tata Consultancy Services; and Mr. Praveen Thakral, Chairman, Oriental Group, presented awards to the winners and runners-up, inspiring the next generation of leaders.The four-day cultural extravaganza, held from January 26 to 29, 2024, showcased the rich heritage of India through folk dances and theatre performances that carried poignant social messages. The Oriental Institute of Science and Technologies provided the perfect backdrop for this celebration of diversity and talent.
The grand finale, witnessed by an audience of around 900, comprised dignitaries from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Young Indians (YI), individuals from Leprosy colonies, as well as faculty and students of OIST. The festival succeeded in fostering an environment of unity, understanding, and cultural appreciation.
