10 killed in road mishap in Mirzapur, PM, CM express condolences

As many as 10 people of Ramsinghpur and Birbalpur villages under Mirza Murad police station died on the spot when an uncontrolled truck hit a tractor-trolley near Katka village under Kachwan Bazar police station of Mirzapur district on Prayagraj-Varanasi Highway around 1 am on Friday.

Three seriously injured persons were admitted to the Trauma Centre in Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

All those on the tractor-trolley were returning home after doing some construction work in Bhadohi district.

The deceased were identified as Bhanu Pratap (25), Vikas (20), both of Ramsinghpur village, ans Anil (35), Suraj Kumar (22), Sanohar (25), Rakesh Kumar (25), Prem Kumar (40), Rahul Kunar (26), Nitin Kumar (20) and Roshan Kumar (20), of Birbalpur.

The injured included Akash (15), Jamuni (26) and Ajay Saroj (50).

After receiving the tragic news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each person who died in the road accident in Mirzapur. The injured would be given Rs 50,000.

All the deceased belonged to the prime minister’s Varanasi parliamentary constituency as they were residents of Birbalpur and Ramsinghpur villages which are in Sewapuri assembly segment of Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency.

In his message, the prime minister expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed to the almighty to give them strength to bear this pain. He also wished for the speedy recovery of all the injured and said that under the supervision of the state government, the local administration was engaged in helping the victims in every possible way.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the road accident in Mirzapur. He instructed the district administration officials to provide proper treatment to the injured.

Expressing his condolences to the bereaved families, Yogi prayed to Lord Shri Ram for peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.

Besides, on the instructions of Varanasi MP and country’s Prime Minister Modi, MLC and Bharatiya Janata Party district president Hansraj Vishwakarma and MLC Dharmendra Singh met the bereaved families and expressed condolences. Both the MLCs also informed the bereaved families about the announcement of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Bot also went to the BHU Trauma Centre and enquired about the condition of the three persons injured in the accident. BJP district general secretary Praveen Singh Gautam, mandal chief Surendra Bind and Devendra Seth were also present.

Meanwhile, the SDM (Rajatalab), ACP (Rajatalab), tehsildar, police station incharge and revenue personnel reached Ramsinghpur and Birbalpur. The SDM (Rajatalab) ordered a survey to provide housing to the families of the deceased.
