1.23 Crore electors to vote across 14218 polling station in final phase

Campaigning for the second and final phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections concluded on Monday evening. The fate of 528 candidates contesting across a total of 38 constituencies that are going to polls in this phase will be decided on November 20.

As per the data shared by the election commission, as many as 1.23 crore voters are  registered to cast their vote in the second phase of the ongoing elections whereas in the second phase of the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, the total number of registered voters were 1.09 crore. This time there are 62,89,974 male, 61,00,548 females and 145 voters are from the third gender.

In the age- group of 18- 19 years, 550614 electors are registered. Amongst them 241769 are male, 308841 are female and 4 are transgender voters. In the age bracket of 20- 29 years, there are 3158673 voters, 62 of them are from the third gender, 1618663 are men and 1539948 are women electors.

The second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections has a total of 176768 PwD (Persons with Disabilities) voters of which 96381 are male, 80384 are female and 3 are transgender. As many as 51 overseas voters, 47 male and 4 female are also due to cast their franchise in this phase.

The total number of voters who are above the age of 85 years voters is 50224. Out of this, 21855 are male and 28369 are female. In this phase, the total number of centenarian voters or those above the age of 100 is 695 of which 398 are females and the remaining 297 are male. As many as 15544 service electors are also registered to cast their votes in the second phase, 14866 of them are males and 678 are females.

For the 1.23 crore voters, a total of 14218 polling stations have been set up- 2414 are in the urban areas while 11804 are in the rural areas. For the final phase of the election 335 special polling booths are also being made. Out of these, as many as 239 polling stations will be managed by women personnel and 26 by the youth.  Persons with Disabilities (PwD) will man 22 polling booths while the remaining 48 fall under the category of unique polling stations.

Out of the seven constituencies in Ranchi district, two are due to go to polls in the second phase while the remaining five were part of the first phase. This includes Silli which has 279 polling stations all of which are located in rural areas whereas Khijri has 97 urban and 316 rural polling booths.

For the second phase, the maximum number of women polling booths will be located in Dumka 52, followed by Jamtara 31 and Bokaro 23. Silli has 14 booths with women personnel while Khijri has none.

For the assembly constituency of Ramgarh in the district of Ramgarh, there will be 8 women polling booths, 6 will be managed by PwDs, 5 by the youth and four are unique polling stations. The constituencies of Gomia and Bermo in Bokaro district will have 4 PwD manned polling stations each 

Pakur has three unique Paharia polling stations. At the 64- Upgraded Middle School Tetulkuria 100 percent voters belong to the Paharia primitive tribe whereas at 213- Upgraded Middle School Ramchandrapur 33 percent and at 17- Primary School Amlagachi 78 percent electors are from this tribe. Decorated along the lines of Paharia culture, these polling booths will also be managed by personnel belonging to this tribe.

Simdega will have a total of five unique polling stations. The stations 216- Government UPG MS, Bhalmanda and 89- Government UPG MS, Muramba, fall under the unique category as the number of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) electors here is more than 85. Two polling booths, 89 Government UPG Middle School, Gondlipani and 180, Government Upgraded Middle School, Dandgurda Mahadantoli have more than 50 Tana Bhagat electors while 153, St Bernard MS, Bonegra has as many as 22 voters who are 85 years and above and are also said to be unique polling stations.
