Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has said that the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign spearheaded by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has now become a mass movement. This is a manifestation of public respect towards mother and Mother Earth. Every person is paying respect to mother and Mother Earth by planting a sapling. Indore is already known for cleanliness, taste, cooperation, good governance and participation.
Shah was addressing the program of planting 11 lakh saplings under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan organized at Revati Range Complex in Indore today.
Indore will also be known across the country for massive plantation under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan. This world record of planting 11 lakh saplings in 24 hours in Indore will make Indore, the city of Devi Ahilyabai, famous across the world with a new record. He said that planting a sapling is easy, but caring it challenging. All the participants planting saplings need to take care of the saplings planted by them. He said that planting 51 lakh saplings and planting 11 lakh in a single day is unprecedented. He congratulated the people of Indore for the unique event.

In this holy campaign of plantation, the young mayor of Indore participated with the support of people from every section of society, Along with the planting of saplings like Peepal, Banyan, Neem etc. in Indore, plants with medicinal properties like Guava, Karonda, Sitaphal, Amla are also being planted. CAPF jawans did a remarkable job of planting 5 crore 21 lakh saplings. The Union Home Minister Shah, while saluting the CAPF jawans, said that the CAPF jawans have done a commendable job of planting 5 crore 21 lakh saplings last year from Kanyakumari to North East and from Bengal to Gujarat. Similarly, by 2024, the planting 6 crore saplings will be completed by planting one crore more saplings.
He said that holy scriptures and Puranas educate us about the importance of trees. It has been said in Matsyapurana that one stepwell is equal to 10 wells, one pond is equal to 10 stepwells, one son is equal to 10 ponds and one tree is equal to 10 sons.
Environmental protection is a concern for the world today. Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide have reduced the ozone level, due to which the heat on the earth has started increasing and climate change is being experienced. Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan run by Prime Minister Modi is the right answer to climate change. Madhya Pradesh is the lungs of India Union Home Minister Shah thanked Madhya Pradesh very much. Madhya Pradesh is the lungs of India which gives oxygen to the whole country. Its 31% area comes under forest cover and 12% of the total forest cover of the whole country is in Madhya Pradesh, due to which eco-friendly tourism has also been promoted in Madhya Pradesh. The state has 6 tiger reserves, 11 national parks and 24 sanctuaries. Cheetahs have also been brought to Kuno Sanctuary by Prime Minister Modi.
