‘Double-engine Sarkar’ works for welfare of all sections of society in State: Hry CM

Monday, 08 July 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that in the last 10 years or so, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Double-engine Sarkar’ in the State has established a system that works for the welfare of all sections of society and has taken the state’s development to new heights.

“The developmental works carried out during the tenure of the present government has surpassed the works done during the 48 years of previous governments. The amount of development work done during this government’s tenure has never been done before,” said Saini while addressing the gathering at an event held in Panipat where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 32 projects worth over Rs 227 crores.

The projects included the inauguration of 19 projects costing Rs 36.55 crores and the foundation stones for 12 projects costing approximately Rs 191 crores. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced an allocation of Rs 10 crores for development works in the Panipat Urban Assembly constituency and Rs 10 crores for the Panipat Rural Assembly constituency.

Saini said that infrastructure is considered a measure of physical development for any nation or state. Strong infrastructure not only uplifts the standard of living of the people residing there but also attracts industries and investments, thereby strengthening the state’s economy. Haryana maintains an annual economic growth rate of eight percent due to its strong infrastructure, compared to the national average of 6.7 percent.

The Chief Minister said that when the present government took on the responsibility of serving the state in 2014, we faced many challenges as the previous government had left a dilapidated economy, a collapsed cooperative structure, and public sector undertakings running at a loss. He said that the previous governments had always prioritized regionalism and nepotism in development and jobs.

During previous governments, there was significant discrimination in development and welfare schemes, with development focused only on one region, neglecting the rest of the State. However, under the guidance of PM Modi, following the philosophy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas’ and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy of Antyodaya, the pace of development has been accelerated, changing the face of the state without any discrimination, said Saini.

He said that the present State Government has considered every individual in Haryana as their own and has worked to uplift every section, following the mantra of ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’. Equal development of every region is a priority for the government.

The Chief Minister also criticized the previous Congress Government for failing to provide plots to the poor despite promises. The plots were shown, but no documents or possessions were given. Eligible people were left wandering.

Understanding their plight, the current government has given possession of 100-square-yard plots to all eligible people. Where land was unavailable, provision has been made to provide an amount of Rs one lakh each in the accounts of eligible beneficiaries to buy plots.

He said that on June 30, the Government had issued social security pensions to 75,000 new beneficiaries. On the same day, assistance was provided to 2,000 beneficiaries for house repairs under Dr BR Ambedkar Awas Navinikaran Yojana. Additionally, under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana, the State Government has also given 30-square-yard plots to around 15,000 families.

Target to install solar panels on roofs of 1L houses

Saini said that at the consecration ceremony of the holy temple of Suryavanshi Lord Rama in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to establish a solar rooftop system on the roof of every home. To achieve this, the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has been started. “Extending this scheme, the Haryana Government has decided to provide solar systems for free on the roofs of one lakh houses of the poor by providing additional grants,” he said.

In this scheme, an amount of Rs 60,000 will be provided by the Central Government and Rs 50,000 by the Haryana Government. Additionally, the Haryana Government has removed the minimum monthly charge for domestic electricity consumers. Now, the bill will be charged only for the units consumed, benefiting 9.50 lakh poor families in the State, he said.

He further said that the State Government has given more powers to panchayats to expedite rural development. Now, sarpanches can carry out development works costing up to Rs 21 lakhs without a tender. The State Government, with new thinking, new vision, and hard work, is giving a new direction and pace to Haryana’s development so that every section of society can be happy and Haryana can reach new heights of development, asserted Saini.

Inaugurates Orphanage and Old Age Home in Panipat

In another event, Saini inaugurated a 400-bed orphanage and old age home in Sondhapur village, Panipat. He also announced Rs 21 lakh from his discretionary fund to the Panipat branch of Jan Sewa Sansthan, Rohtak.

“This Orphanage and Old Age Home will play a crucial role in helping the needy and the helpless. Such institutions inspire others who work for the service of those in need,” said Saini, adding that saints and great personalities hold a significant place in the nation’s development and they will always prove to be inspiring for service.

Praising the sacred work done by the institution, he said that in addition to the government, society is always ready to promote such noble work and welfare of the people.

The Chief Minister said that numerous schemes have been implemented by the State Government for the upliftment of the elderly, which are currently benefiting them. “The increase in pensions has honoured the elderly. Senior citizens who do not have shelter will benefit from this Old Age and Orphanage home, he added.
