Gambhir Coach for Team India

Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been named the new head coach for India by Board of Control for Cricket in India. The move was decided by the Board after Dravid's tenure end on a winning note with India's T20 World Cup win, with Gambhir taking over as a two-time World Cup winner T20 World Cup (2007), ODI World Cup (2011) and veteran of about 200 matches in international cricket.

The move is a continuation of BCCI's effort to bring new energy and perspective in the support staff. Arrival of Gautam Gambhir confirmed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on X platform, "It is with immense pleasure that I welcome @GautamGambhir as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close. Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket forward."

Gambhir known for his no-nonsense approach and for speaking his mind whenever possible, he ventured in cricket commentary after the retirement from professional cricket later joined politics as member of the Lok Sabha.

In March, Gambhir resigned from the politics officially over the questions raised for his political duties and commitments. He has many feathers in his cap like two IPL titles during his captaincy for KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders).

KKR roped him again in 2024 IPL edition as a mentor which provides the team a handful support behind the youngsters and knows how to bring out the best from the players in their significant role in the team which resulted in third title win for the team (KKR) in this year's IPL.

Gambhir's cricketing career includes vital roles in India's 2011 Cricket World Cup and 2007 T20 World Cup victories. He was named ICC's Test player of the year in 2009 and retired from international cricket in 2016 with over 10,000 runs across all formats.

In 2009 Gambhir received Arjuna Award followed by Padma Shri by the Government Of India in 2019.Gambhir's significantly contributed to the society from the education of children of martyrs and war widows to give them a dignified life. Community kitchens across several places in delhi to make sure no one slept hungry in the city.

Gambhir, a largely unheralded exemplary demonstrate of an aggressive style and strategic acumen is expected to change the very dynamics of this side as they ready themselves for immediate nation duties and the 2025 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Gambhir will commence his coaching duties in upcoming Sri Lanka tour later this month, with upcoming series around the corner all eyes will be on him on how he shapes up the fresh T20 side of the team and Indian Cricket in the future.
