Nitin Gadkari tells Gurgaon officials to work on decongestion projects

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed officers to prepare detailed reports for a slew of projects in Gurgaon such as the connectivity between Nelson Mandela Marg in Delhi and Mehrauli Gurugram Road in Gurgaon, development of Pehowa-Kurukshetra-Yamunanagar Corridor and Ladwa Bypass including Kurukshetra Bypass, connectivity of Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) highway with Urban Extension Road-II. The directions with regard to the new projects were issued to reduce traffic congestion between Gurgaon and Delhi, and towards Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Originally planned in 2008, the Centre had set up a committee under the erstwhile Planning Commission to study possible road links between the national capital and Haryana. At the time, the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway was under construction, and two alternative routes - Dwarka Expressway and Nelson Marg-MG Road via DLF-2 - were considered. The Nelson Mandela-MG Road link project never took off and was also opposed by environmentalists as the initial plan included construction through the Aravalli Biodiversity Park in the city.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the Union Minister for Road has directed the officers to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for providing connectivity from Nelson Mandela Marg in Delhi to MG Road and Chauraha (roundabout) of Gurugram and Faridabad Road to reduce traffic congestion between Gurugram and Delhi.

This will also help reduce congestion  at Delhi Airport and the beginning of Gurugram. Similarly,  he had a discussion with the Union Minister regarding widening/ upgradation of Gurugram-Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar road.

A consensus has been reached on providing direct connectivity between the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) or Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway (KMP Expressway),and Urban Extension Road-2 (Delhi) by constructing an interchange at the junction of KMP and Bawana-Sonipat Highway.

On this project,  Saini informed that the relocation of Kherki Dola toll plaza in Gurugram district was also discussed and other arrangements are being considered using modern technology. Similarly, an agreement was reached today to provide direct connectivity between KMP and UER-2 (Delhi) by constructing an interchange at the junction of KMP and Bawana-Sonipat Highway.

The Union Minister showed interest in the project and directed the Officers to implement it. Similarly, the construction work of a flyover at Bilaspur Chowk, Gurugram (NH-48) will be started soon. However, repairs have been done for the convenience of passengers.

The Chief Minister informed that the Union Minister has directed officials to prepare DPR for construction of East-West Expressway (Dabwali to Panipat) for the state of Haryana. He informed that the Haryana section of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway will be inaugurated soon and the Delhi Katra Expressway which is currently starting from KMP will be extended to UER-2 in Delhi.

After a meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways said that a modern design would be prepared for the construction of an elevated section on the Faridabad-Jewar Green Field Expressway to ease traffic. He said that the entry/exit ramp will be constructed at Mohana village on the Expressway.

At the meeting, Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Ranbir Gangwa, BJP State President Mohan Lal Badoli, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister V Umashankar,  Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor (Urban Development) DS Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary Town and  Country Planning Department Arun Kumar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Public Works Department S Anurag Aggarwal, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Rajiv Jaitley, Chairman National Highway Authority Santosh Kumar Yadav, officers of Central Government and Haryana Government were also present.
