Dubbing the Congress as the most “dishonest” and “corrupt” party in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday indirectly attacked the leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, by saying that “some Congress leaders go to  foreign nations and push anti-national and divisive agenda” and also “insult the country’s culture and faith”.

Addressing a rally organised to celebrate the first anniversary of the Bnational PM Vishwakarma Program at Wardha in eastern Maharashtra, Modi revived the controversy over his visit to Chief Justice of India’s residence for a Ganpati Puja, by charging that the “Congress hates Ganpati Puja”.

““The Congress is no longer the Congress with which Mahatma Gandhi was associated. Today, the soul of patriotism has died a death in the Congress. Today, the Congress is harbouring the ghost of hatred. Look at the language used by the people of Congress. The Congress people go to foreign lands and propagate anti-national and divisive views. They also insult the country’s culture and faith,” Modi said.

“Indirectly alluding to Rahul Gandhi’s purported statements during his recent visit to the US, the Prime Minister said: “Today, the Congress is being run by a ‘tukde tukde’ gang and urban Naxals. Congress is the most corrupt and dishonest party If there is a most corrupt family in the country, it is the Congress royal family”

“Alluding to the controversy over Ganpati Puja, Modi said: “If any political party that believes in our faith and our culture does not oppose Ganpati Puja. But, today’s Congress hates Ganpati Puja.. It was on this land of Maharashtra, Bal Gangadhar Tilak had started the tradition of Ganeshotsav which came to be known as the celebration of unity in the country.

People from all regions used to associate with it” “Referring to his visit to CJO’s residence for Ganpati puja, the Prime Minister said: “I went to a Ganpati Puja. The Congress began to practise appeasement politics. Their people  began to oppose Ganpati Puja... The Congress will go to any length to promote appeasement politics”.

““In Karnataka, the ruling Congress detained Ganpati idol in a police van. This was happening at a time when Ganeshostav was celebrated in a big way in Maharashtra. The country was shocked after the Ganpati idol was put in the police van,” Modi said.

“Exhorting the people of Maharashtra to “teach” a lesson to the Congress party in the forthcoming State Assembly polls, Modi said: “We have to stand by the tradition and progress.  We have to stand by honour and development agenda.   .... Let us save the identity of Maharashtra and fulfil the dream of Maharashtra together".

“During his visit to Wardha, the PrimeMinister launched the ‘Acharya Chanakya Skill Development ’ scheme and ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme’. He released certificates and loans to PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries and also released a commemorative stamp dedicated to mark one year of progress under PM Vishwakarma.

Modi laid the foundation stone of PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park at Amravati, Maharashtra. The Prime Minister took a walkthrough of the exhibition showcased on the occasion.

Recalling the Vishwakarma Puja celebrations that took place two days ago, Modi said: “Today, we are celebrating the successful completion of one year of the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
