Indian Railways is swiftly moving towards becoming the world's largest "Green Railways" by accelerating electrification efforts. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has electrified 2583 RKM (Route Kilometres), covering 61.00 per cent of its 4260 RKM network.
Notably, 1399.34 RKM across the eight North-eastern states have been electrified, with significant progress in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura. This initiative, led by IRCON, RITES, and NFR/Construction, aims to improve train mobility, strengthen the Rail network, and reduce pollution and dependency on imported oil, promoting sustainable and efficient transportation.
