In a shocking incident, an unidentified miscreant sent a forged legal notice to the Uttar Pradesh Governor in connection with a land inheritance case pending in Malihabad Tehsil court.

The matter came to light when the notice file reached the district collectorate from the Raj Bhavan, prompting the Governor to express displeasure and direct strict action, sending officials into a frenzy.

The case involves a dispute between Meera Pal and the village council over inheritance rights, which are currently under consideration in the court of Tehsildar Vikas Singh.

According to officials, the miscreant fabricated a regular legal notice by forging the court’s seal and the signature of the Tehsildar’s assistant. The notice, dated October 29 with a hearing date of November 8, was speed-posted from Lucknow to the Raj Bhavan on November 11.

Tehsildar Singh clarified that under the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code 2006, computerized notices are automatically generated for parties involved in inheritance disputes under Section 34.

“The Governor is not a party in such cases, and no such notice was issued from the tehsil,” he confirmed.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Saurabh Singh stated that the fake notice aimed to tarnish the tehsil’s reputation.

“Someone used a forged court seal and signature, creating a false notice and sending it via speed post from Lucknow,” he said.

While the letter from the Raj Bhavan has yet to reach Malihabad, an investigation is underway to trace the culprit.

“Strict action will be taken against the person responsible,” assured SDM Singh.

The incident has raised concerns about potential misuse of official seals and documents, prompting officials to tighten security measures in administrative offices.
