Wednesday, 01 May 2024 | Rajesh Kumar | New Delhi

wo days after Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from the post citing internal conflicts, issues with the Aam Aadmi Party-Congress alliance and the fielding of 'outsider' candidates from Lok Sabha constituencies in the national capital, the Congress on Tuesday appointed Devender Yadav as the interim chief of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC).  Currently serving as the Congress's Punjab in-charge, Yadav previously held the position of MLA, representing the Badli assembly constituency. Yadav's appointment comes as part of a leadership transition within the Delhi unit of the Congress party.

"Congress president (Mallikarjun Kharge) has appointed Devender Yadav as the interim president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect," read a communiqué issued by Congress general secretary in-charge of the organisation KC Venugopal on Tuesday. Yadav will continue in his role as AICC In-charge for Punjab, the statement added.
