Several youth organisations comprising aspirants of various government posts on Monday tried to gherao Chief Minister’s residence against the 60:40 planning policy. However, the attempt of youths was foiled as police used mild force including lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
Hundreds of youths first gathered at the Morhabadi Ground, after that marching from there and were about to reach the Chief Minister's residence, but due to barricading at many places on the way, they could not reach. After this, the students tried to reach the Chief Minister's residence by finding an alternate route but they could not succeed.
When the youths tried to cross the barricading near the CM house area, police used force on the students to stop them. Police had to resort to Lathi charge, in which many students suffered injuries. A large number of youths were detained during the protest, who were continuously raising slogans against the 60:40 employment policy.
A three-day agitation on behalf of the unemployed youth of the state has started from Monday. Today there was a gherao of the Chief Minister's residence, while a torchlight procession will be taken out on April 18. After this, Jharkhand bandh has been called on 19th April.
