In a shocking incident, bodies of young lovers were found hanging from a tree in Sambhal on Tuesday morning. Police reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
It seems that both ended their lives together due to opposition over their affair from their respective families, the police said. The deceased were identified as Mahesh Kumar (25) and the girl as Kavita (20), both of Singhaula Daulat Singh village. Rajpura police station incharge Amrit Lal reached the spot along with a team to carry out further investigation.
Meanwhile in Amroha, a shopkeeper brutally attacked a Class XI student following an argument over a petty dispute. The victim, Mohammed Ali, was shifted by locals to a hospital from where he was referred to a better facility in Moradabad. However, he died on the way to Moradabad.
Based on the complaint of Ali’s family members, the police registered a case of murder in this regard.
The case is of Naugawan Sadat area of Amroha. Riazul Hasan’s family lives in Mohalla Alinagar of the district and he works as a labourer in Kuwait. His eldest son Mohammed Ali was a student of Class XI in SAM Inter College in Amroha.
In another incident in Bareilly, a 28-year-old woman was found dead with a gunshot wound in Badagaon village of Sirauli area. Her family alleged that she was killed by her in-laws, police said on Tuesday. She was identified as Rishibala.
The incident took place on Monday night. Rishibala was found dead in her bed with an illegal .315-bore mini-rifle also lying in the room, the police said.
Circle Officer Deepshikha Ahibaran Singh said the victim’s uncle, Harpal, accused her in-laws of murder. The body was sent for autopsy even as forensic teams collected evidence from the spot.
According to the police, at the time of the incident, Rishibala’s husband Gappu was in his field. Her brother-in-law Durvesh told the police that when he returned home, he found her dead in a room.
The family members initially thought that it was a case of suicide and did not inform police for about an hour.
Meanwhile in Aligarh, three youths received gunshot injuries in a fight between two rival groups allegedly belonging to two separate hostels of the Aligarh Muslim University, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday night. The victims — Sadiq, Firoz Alam, and Abdullah — were said to be undergoing treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
The police claimed that the trio were AMU students. AMU publicity incharge Prof Asim Siddiqui, however, said they were outsiders. Siddiqui said a clash had taken place on Monday night between two student groups at VM Hall. After a while, a group of armed youths barged into Sir Syed Hall (North) where a gunfight ensued and three youths were shot at.
The university has yet to issue any explanation on how these “outsiders” entered the hostels so late at night. Acting CO, Civil Lines, Sanjay Jaiswal said the police were in the process of registering an FIR in connection with the gunfight, which was connected to an old rivalry between the two student groups.
Meanwhile, uneasy calm prevailed on the AMU campus on Tuesday morning when the university opened. Student protesters blocked the campus' two main entry gates, forcing the authorities to divert traffic to Faiz Gate and Sir Syed House Gate, which normally remain closed.
