Yogi unfurls national flag

Thursday, 17 August 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the Independence Day celebrations by unfurling the national flag at the Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow on August 15th, marking the 77th anniversary of India’s independence. The event was marked by poignant moments of tribute, recognition and future aspirations.

The chief minister honoured the valorous soldiers and their families, emphasising their sacrifices for national security. As part of the ceremony, he administered the Panch Pran oath to those present, reaffirming their commitment to national progress. A heartfelt homage was paid to the martyrs.

Extending his warm regards to the people of the state, the chief minister contextualised the event within the larger framework of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“This marks the beginning of a 25-year plan, inviting all citizens to contribute to shaping the vision of India’s centenary celebrations of independence,” the chief minister said.

“Amidst new resolutions, our connection to this sacred event will help realise the dream of the India we aspire for,” he said.

In his address, he hailed the concept of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, a recent cultural event that echoed Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a united India.

“By fulfilling our responsibilities, we secure the honour of future generations,” Yogi underscored, emphasising the collective commitment towards a progressive India.

The chief minister highlighted India’s unique perspective towards its land, describing the Earth as a mother deserving of respect and care. He articulated how this reverence for the land unifies the diverse Indian population beyond caste, creed, or regional differences.

Turning to Uttar Pradesh’s role in India’s development journey, he revealed that the state has successfully positioned itself as a prime investment destination. The Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) witnessed proposals worth Rs 36 lakh crores, promising employment opportunities for one crore youth. The state’s improved law and order situation has attracted major investors, driving this positive trajectory.

Underscoring infrastructure development, the chief minister detailed ongoing projects, including waterways, expressways, and international airports. He emphasised that Uttar Pradesh is embracing education reforms outlined in the National Education Policy, with the potential to regain its status as a global education hub.

He lauded the successful control of encephalitis cases and emphasised the state’s commitment to building a comprehensive healthcare system. He elaborated on initiatives like Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which provide health insurance coverage to millions.

The chief minister also spoke about Uttar Pradesh’s economic aspirations, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a $5 trillion economy for India. He noted the state’s contribution to this goal, highlighting the doubling of UP’s GDP and per capita income within five years.

Independence Day celebrations were held at the Chief Minister’s official residence, where he hoisted the national flag and shared greetings with officers, dignitaries, and staff members.
