Wednesday, 06 September 2023 | PNS | Jamshedpur

XLRI, Jamshedpur, has emerged victorious in the 17th Annual E-PARCC Teaching Case and Simulation Competition, a globally recognized competition hosted by Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, New York, USA. The institution's exemplary teaching case, titled "GEWEL: Sustainable Solution for Empowering Girls and Women in Zambia," authored by Prof. Trilochan Tripathy and  Benudhar Sahu, secured the coveted 1st place position, winning the Glendel E. and Alice D. Wright Prize Fund for Conflict and Collaboration Case Studies in International Development.

The winning case was meticulously crafted and developed within XLRI's Case Research and Simulation Development Centre (XL-CRSDC), a renowned repository for case studies. This particular case shed light on the collaborative strategy orchestrated by the World Bank, bringing together a myriad of stakeholders, including private enterprises, governmental bodies, and international agencies, to execute the Girls' Education and Women's Empowerment and Livelihoods (GEWEL) Project in Zambia. This initiative aims to empower girls and women hailing from the most impoverished households in Zambia.

Prof. Trilochan Tripathy expressed his intention to continue producing cases spanning diverse realms of business management and public policy. He stated, "Winning this prestigious award motivates us to create more cases centered around the concept of 'collaboration,' a concept increasingly relevant in today's world. Collaboration enables individuals and organizations to collectively address common challenges that no single government or private entity can tackle alone. Our commitment to developing cases, especially those related to public policy issues, aligns with XLRI's dedication to fostering inclusivity and the greater good of society."

The award-winning case meticulously outlined the formal, consensus-driven, deliberative collective decision-making processes integral to the GEWEL project, which is geared toward empowering women and girls in Zambia.

The Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration (PARCC), hosted by Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, stands as a multifaceted, interdisciplinary research center committed to advancing both theoretical understanding and practical solutions for resolving disputes and fostering cooperation in various international development contexts. E-PARCC, a project under the Collaborative Governance Initiative, offers an online repository that equips educators with effective and innovative teaching cases and simulations to engage students in addressing complex problems and formulating collaborative solutions. The project extends free online access to academicians and researchers worldwide working within the realm of conflict and collaboration.

XLRI's remarkable achievement in the E-PARCC Teaching Case and Simulation Competition reaffirms its dedication to academic excellence and its significant contributions to the field of collaborative governance and international development.
