The Uttar Pradesh government is working with determination to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of making the country tuberculosis-free by 2025.
Directives have been issued to various departments, emphasising enhanced TB screening and testing through collaborative efforts, ensuring comprehensive treatment and providing government assistance. The impact of these measures is evident not only at the community and administrative levels but has also earned recognition from experts.
Experts from the National Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases and the National Task Force Medical College have lauded the Yogi Adityanath government for Uttar Pradesh’s groundbreaking achievement as the first state in India to consistently organise regular TB clinics over the past two years.
Since June 2021, there has been an initiative to organise Difficult to Treat TB Clinics nationwide under the auspices of the Central TB Division and National Task Force. The primary aim is to provide quality treatment, prevention and better management for TB patients.
Through this initiative, all district tuberculosis officers and other departmental officials in Uttar Pradesh have the opportunity to directly connect with specialists online, sharing their challenges and finding effective solutions. Uttar Pradesh stands out as the first state in the country to consistently organise this clinic for the past two years.
During the 50th online clinic held last Tuesday under the guidance of the State Tuberculosis Unit, Dr Ashok Bharadwaj, president of the National Task Force Medical College, and Dr Rajendra Prasad, vice-president of the Task Force, National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi, consultant TB, Dr Roopak Singla, congratulated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for Uttar Pradesh’s pioneering status as the first state where the TB clinic has been organised continuously for two years.
During the online clinic, employees associated with the DR TB Centre brought attention to treatment challenges, seeking guidance from specialists. Expert physicians provided clear and concise explanations for managing these difficulties. Additionally, information was provided about ongoing research and upcoming new medications to improve treatment in the future.
