Some devotees going to Vindhyachal temple for darshan by a car met with an accident in Chandauli in which three persons, including a father-son duo, died on the spot while four others were critically injured.
The car driver and a woman survived the accident.
The cops sent the bodies for post-mortem and were making further investigations.
Reports said that Deepak Patel of Bihar's Rohtas district was going for darshan at Vindhyachal temple in Mirzapur district along with his family members and friends in his car on Friday morning. Near Jhansi village under Sadar Kotwali of Chandauli, their car rammed into a truck parked on the highway. The collision was so powerful that three people in the car died on the spot. The front part of the car was badly damaged in the accident.
Circle Officer Ramveer Singh and Sadar Kotwali Inspector Rajeev Singh, who reached the spot along with local police, somehow took out the injured and rushed them to the district hospital for treatment. Seeing their critical condition, the doctors referred them to the trauma centre at Varanasi.
The police also cut the car with a gas cutter and took out the dead bodies.
The deceased were identified as Rajkishore Chowdhary (32) and his son Aarush Chowdhary (5) of Visambharpur in Rohtas district, and Shailesh Kumar (22) of Madhaina village.
Shraddha Devi (40), Khushbu Kumari (19), Radhika Devi (65) and Ruchi Chowdhary (16) sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
