For the first time in the season, the gates of Tawa Dam in Narmadapuram were opened on Saturday, 42430 cusecs of water is being released from the dam by opening 5 gates up to 5 feet.
Due to good rains in the catchment area and water released from Sarani dam, the water level of Tawa dam is increasing. By Saturday afternoon, the water level in the dam crossed 1163 feet. The full tank level of the dam is 1166 feet.
The gates of Bargi Dam can also open for the third time in this season by Saturday evening. The level of the dam built in Jabalpur has reached 421.75 metres. The dam is 92 percent full, while issuing an alert, the administration has asked to stay away from the banks of Narmada.
There is an alert of very heavy rain in 7 districts including Chhindwara, Narmadapuram, Khandwa for the next 24 hours.
Narmada river will come in spate in these districts due to opening of Tawa Dam gates.
The water of Tawa Dam goes into the Narmada River. Because of this, the water of Narmada river will increase in Narmadapuram. This water will go ahead and fill the Indira Sagar dam of Khandwa. It will affect the Narmada river up to Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Harda, Dewas, Sehore, Raisen.
It takes 6 hours for the water to reach Bandrabhan (Narmadapuram) when the gates of the dam are opened. The water level starts rising after 6 to 7 hours at Sethani Ghat in Narmadapuram. After 36 hours the water reaches the Indira Sagar Dam.
If the gates of Indira Sagar Dam are also opened, then this water will go ahead and fill Omkareshwar Dam in Mandhata of Khandwa.
It has been raining in Jabalpur, Shahdol, Rewa and Sagar divisions in the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh since two days.
