State is committed for all round development of cities

Sunday, 01 January 2023 | Staff Reporter | bhopal

The state government is committed for the all-round development of the cities and providing basic facilities to the citizens. These are not just words, but continuous successful efforts are being made to implement it.

The all-round development of cities continues unabated under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In the urban body elections held this year, 1761 corporators are below 35 years of age. This enthusiasm of the youth will become the pivot of the development of the cities.

Shivraj government has adopted new thinking and innovation from an open platform. Asia’s biggest Gobar Dhan plant to make CNG from waste in Indore is the result of this thinking. Apart from CNG, 100 tonnes of organic manure will also be manufactured daily. This is a living example of putting the words of Prime Minister’s ‘Waste to Best’ mantra into action.

Urban Development and Housing Department implements various schemes and missions for infrastructure development, drinking water, sanitation as well as conservation and promotion of lakes and ponds in cities. While the Deendayal Rasoi Yojana is being implemented in the urban bodies for the needy, schemes like AMRUT, Housing for All, Smart City, Swachh Bharat Mission, National Urban Livelihood Mission and PM Self Fund are implemented to change the direction and condition of the cities. Our government has approved an amount of Rs 121 crores for the construction and renovation of about 770 Sanjeevani clinics for public welfare.

Our department is proving its worth across the country. Indore leads for the 6th consecutive time in the National Cleanliness Survey. At the same time, our state is also number one in cleanliness. In the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban, our state has received second place award from the hands of the Prime Minister in the category of Best Performing State Award. This scheme has also received the best state award for convergence with other schemes and for conducting promotional activities.

PMAY Awards-2021: Madhya Pradesh has received awards in total 9 categories on the basis of excellent performance in 150 Days Challenge. In the Swachh Survekshan 2022, Bhopal has been ranked as the cleanest self-sustainable capital of the country with a five-star rating. The state has received 16 national awards in the Swachh Sarvekshan 2022. Madhya Pradesh has got the second position in the India Smart City Contest-2020.

Along with this, the state has received 11 out of 20 awards in various categories. Four cities of Madhya Pradesh Indore, Jabalpur, Sagar and Ujjain were awarded among the first 11 cities in the country in the Eat-Smart Cities Challenge. Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the whole country in the implementation of PM Self Fund Scheme. Loans have been distributed to 6 lakh 87 thousand 192 street vendors under the scheme. Out of these, 2 lakh 26 thousand street vendors are active in digital transactions. As a result, they have received Rs 3 crore 43 lakh as cashback. Indore has been given the most prestigious ‘Award of Excellence’ by the Government of India for innovative financial management in urban transport.

An investment of Rs 12 thousand 600 crore has been made in all the bodies of the state (from the year 2005 to 2020) for the supply of drinking water through various schemes. In the last 5 years, 13 lakh 88 thousand water connections have been given. Drinking water and sewerage schemes will be extended to all urban bodies in AMRUT 2.0. About Rs 12 thousand 858 crore 71 lakh will be invested in this in the next 5 years. In the last 5 years, 3 lakh sewage connections have been given.
